Natural Hair Journey

Hello y’all, as you can see, I’m taking a quick break from posts about travel and introducing you to other things I’m interested/passionate about. They are quite a few so buckle up.

One day I woke up and decided I wanted to go semi-bald. I kept talking about it for months until the evening of December 31st, 2011, I walked up to my aunt, gave her scissors and asked if she could please cut all my hair off (well at least to the undergrowth, and that was pretty low). Later I went to the barbers to level it properly.

At first I was just gonna leave it short, but my younger sister Adaku, (check out her website, she’s a singer ) was natural, so I decided to go natural and see how that works out for me. I cut my hair a few times early 2012, I think I finally decided to just let it grow sometime in April or May 2012. So since then I’ve been natural.

There were so many times I was tired and just really wanted to give up, but I was like, let me give it 6years, if I’m still tired then I’ll relax my hair again. It’s been almost 4 years, I feel like my hair isn’t growing anymore, but that’s a lie, it’s just really healthy so I have major major shrinkage (like major, I’m not even joking) and I’m very scissor happy, I may or may not trim my hair too often. I can’t really be bothered about the growth to be honest, as long as I have hair on my head to do the stuff I wanna, I’m good.

However, I wish I had a super quick remedy to bald edges, mine’s growing, but it’s taking it’s sweet time. If any of you have any suggestions, please drop a comment. Thanks

I’m just gonna share a few pictures, of my natural hair in all it’s glory or not so glory. In a subsequent post, I’ll share some of the products I use now, that I feel make my hair the softest yummiest thing ever, it hasn’t always been like that, my hair was really dry and looked dull at some point, but Glory to God, IT”S ALIVE!!!!
